 World's most renowned sport Athletics generally arouse interest of those with a competitive personality, and sports are the domain where competitive people can excel to become the modern day celebrity-icons known as professional sports players. All types of sports are very popular worldwide but which is the most popular sport in the world? This thought induced us to write this article. Quick search and research with no surprise Football (Soccer) is the most popular sport played today, it's a team sport played between two teams of eleven players using a spherical ball. The game is played on a rectangular grass or artificial turf field, with a goal in the centre of each of the short ends. The object of the game is to score by driving the ball into the opposing goal.
Football can be as frustrating as golf, as physical as hockey, as erratic as baseball, as an entertaining as 20-20Cricket and as exciting as basketball. No simple word can describe the popularity of football.The football is exciting and highly addictive to watch and play. Football origin is Chinese, where it was discovered by the English and is now the de facto sport in 93 countries - home to two billion people. It has 208 member nations and thus is easily the world's richest sport. It also has the largest contingent of diehard fans, players and professional leagues in the world's largest economy, Europe. The English Premier League and the Champions League are the most popular football leagues, with the matches shown live to half a billion people in 202 countries. Manchester United is the richest club in the world with a valuation of $1.87 billion. The FIFA World Cup is the largest and most lucrative sporting event in the world. The 2006 tournament, with 64 matches featuring 32 nations and television coverage in 214 countries, had a cumulative television audience of 26 billion people. The final between defending champions Italy and France was watched by 700 million viewers.



A survey in 2001 by FIFA 2001 showed more than 240 million people play the sport of football in over 200 countries across almost every part of the globe. Because of this some have named football the world's favorite pastime, but instead we are naming football the world's most renowned sport.
To make a long story short, there isn't really another sport that could challenge soccer as the world's most renownd sport.
